The Falling And Rising

Two of the redwoods have recently became frail. There first leaves dried out and shriveled.

Action has been taken and now both are looking better and should survive.

This just goes to show how frail Giant Redwood Saplings can be

 

Redwood Facts

Redwood trees originate from the west cost of america. They can reach hights larger than that of the statue of liberty. Road tunnels can be made through them. People have made buildings from the trunk of a giant redwood. Redwoods really are an amazing tree specie. There are three types of redwood: Giant – the largest mass of any tree specie on earth, Coastal – Tallest tree specie on earth

The First Saplings

So, heres the start of the forrest, the first few saplings:

 

Here you can see the sapling as a small curve with the seed case still attched

 

Here is a baby giant redwood with its seed case still attached but standing up at about 2 cm High

 

In total i now have three saplings each about 2 cm high, and im expecing more very soon. I recently collected over 30 cones full of seeds

Redwood Online Forrest…

So, as you know; this is the online blog for redwoods, or the online forrest. Im also considering making a website to go with this blog, but that will depend on the popularity of this blog. So, in my next post i will introduce you to the first trees of the online redwood forrest. The basic idea is that you can track the tree’s progress online. Also you’ll find out quite a bit from my posts about redwoods, good locations of redwoods, how to do certain things ect. So sit back and enjoy.

Welcome to the Redwood online blog. Created by me George Maier. I recently became rather intrested in Redwoods, they are amazing trees indeed. There are three types of redwood: Giant, Coastal and dawn and each type is amazing. The Coastal Redwood is the tallest specie on earth reaching higher than the statue of liberty. Giant has the largest mass of any tree on earth. And dawn until recently was thought extinct. A little back history on me now: Im a student in england, i like IT, Physics and yet somehow i still manage to get a girlfriend My dreams include going on a world tour and climbing everest; both a bit far fetched though .
